Youngster Sam Bailey departs the club
Southampton Football Club can confirm that young defender Sam Bailey has left the club following the expiry of his contract.
After joining Saints at eight-years-old, he has been a part of the Academy for the last 12 years.
He signed a scholarship contract in 2019 and quickly impressed at Under-18s level, eventually playing up the age groups with the Under-21s.
Bailey has endured a lengthy spell of long-term injuries over the past two and a half years but was handed a new contract to complete his recovery with the club, and capped off an incredible battle by returning to the Under-21s side in pre-season.
As his time at Southampton now comes to an end, the club wishes Sam the best of luck with whatever follows in the next stage of his career.
