Loan Watch: Clean sheets for Ćaleta-Car and Wright
Southampton’s loanees have settled into life at their respective loan clubs and were back in action over the Bank Holiday weekend, as Duje Ćaleta-Car and Ollie Wright kept impressive clean sheets. This and more in our latest Loan Watch...
Starting in France in Ligue 1, Ćaleta-Car made his third appearance for Lyon and helped them pick up their first point of the campaign in a goalless draw against OGC Nice.
The Croatian played 90-minutes against last season’s Europa Conference League quarter-finalists, whilst ex-Saints loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles also made his debut for Les Gones coming off the bench.
Meanwhile, back in the sixth tier of English football, Under-21s goalkeeper Wright continued his strong start at Bath City with two wins over the Bank Holiday weekend.
After playing in a 3-1 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday, Wright kept his second clean sheet of the campaign on Monday afternoon in a 2-0 victory away to last season’s beaten playoff finalists St Albans City.

Elsewhere in England, Nico Lawrence had an afternoon of highs and lows for Colchester United as they picked up their first win of the season in a dominant 3-0 triumph over promotion hopefuls Gillingham.
Lawrence started the game, again deployed in a defensive midfield role, but was unfortunately forced off before half-time through injury.
Finally, in Turkey, Mateusz Lis made his third appearance for Göztepe as they were narrowly beaten by Corum FK in the TFF First League.
