Saints will be looking to bounce back swiftly after their first defeat of the season last weekend.

The 1-0 loss against Blackburn wasn't the return to St Mary's they'd hoped, after picking up four points in their opening two matches.

With three games completed, Saints sit in fifth place as the league table beings to take shape in the early stages of the season.

Sheffield United are still chasing their first points of the campaign after suffering three defeats in their first three games.

The Blades were beaten by Durham on the opening day, before a narrow loss to Charlton in their first home game.

Last week, a trip to Newcastle was unsuccessful for Ash Thompson's side as they were beaten 2-0 at Kingston Park.

FAMILIAR FACES

Over the summer, Saints welcomed three former Sheffield United players to the South Coast.

Sunday's game will be an instant reunion for Fran Stenson in goal along with defenders Tara Bourne and Rachel Brown.

Tara Bourne has been ever-present since her switch to Saints.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Saints were unbeaten against Sheffield United in the 2023/24 season, with an impressive away performance at Bramall Lane completing the double.

At St Mary's earlier that campaign, the game was wrapped up in 20 minutes as goals from Sophia Pharoah and Katie Wilkinson were the difference either side of a Jodie Hutton equaliser.

MANAGER PREVIEW

Keen for her side to show an immediate response from last week's defeat, Head Coach Remi Allen spoke after the Blackburn result.

"The season will have highs and lows and the importance of the togetherness is what is going to continue to drive us through.

"The togetherness and the spirit doesn't change with this group and I know we'll bounce back."
