Saints' 2023/24 fixtures revealed
Southampton will kick off the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign with a Friday night trip to Hillsborough on the opening weekend, live on Sky Sports.
Saints will travel to League One play-off winners Sheffield Wednesday on Friday 4th August, kick-off 8pm BST, in the very first game of the English league season.
The first competitive home match under Russell Martin will see the new manager face former club Norwich, where he made over 300 appearances as a player and won three promotions, on Saturday 12th August at St Mary’s.
Another newly-promoted team, Plymouth, will host Saints at Home Park on Saturday 19th August, while the opening month concludes with a home game against QPR on Saturday 26th August.
Last season’s Premier League opponents, Leicester and Leeds, will both visit St Mary’s in September.
The hectic festive period sees Saints play seven games in December. The final match before Christmas is at QPR on Saturday 23rd December, followed by a Boxing Day showdown with Swansea at St Mary’s, and another home game against Plymouth on Friday 29th December to round off 2023.
Saints then make the long journey to Norwich on New Year’s Day, also travelling to Swansea in January as Martin faces his former side twice in four weeks.
The most eye-catching fixture in March is a trip to Leicester, while Easter weekend sees Saints face Middlesbrough at home on Good Friday and Ipswich away on Easter Monday.
Saints will play their final home game against Stoke on Saturday 27th April, rounding off the campaign with a mouth-watering trip to Leeds, provisionally pencilled in for Saturday 4th May.
