Loan Watch: Clean sheets for goalkeeping duo
With the international break in full swing, Saints' lower-league loanees took centre stage over the weekend with key performances from goalkeepers Jack Bycroft and Ollie Wright. This and more in our latest Loan Watch...
Following on from a seven-goal thriller on his National League debut last week, Jack Bycroft kept his first clean sheet for Aldershot Town in a 2-0 win against AFC Fylde.
The Shots made the long journey to the North West and returned with three points as Bycroft made important saves with the scores level in the first half.
Elsewhere between the sticks, Ollie Wright also kept a clean sheet over the weekend - his third of the National League South season so far with Bath City, who extended their unbeaten run to six games.
The Romans surrendered their spot at the top of the table in midweek after a 1-1 draw away to Truro City, but claimed it back on Saturday with a 1-0 triumph over Welling United in a hard-fought defensive display.
Staying in the sixth tier, it was also an unbeaten week for fellow Under-21s players Matt Carson and Luke Pearce.
Carson played two successive 90 minutes with Braintree Town as they recorded draws against Tonbridge Angels and Farnborough respectively.
Pearce made his debut for Torquay United as a late sub against Farnborough in midweek, as the Gulls have moved up to third in the table with back-to-back wins.
Up in League Two, Lewis Payne made his third substitute appearance for Newport County but couldn't help mount a late comeback as the Welsh side were beaten by Crawley Town.
Finally, Lyanco made another appearance for Al-Gharafa as he played the first half of their 3-3 draw against Al- Markhiya in the QSL Cup group stage.
