There were two debuts for Southampton’s on-loan players throughout England and around Europe last week.

Derrick Abu made his professional debut on Saturday as he lined up for his first appearance for Harrogate Town in SkyBet League Two.

The right-back started and played 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against table-topping Stockport County, which moved Harrogate level on points with the playoff positions.

Abu earned praise for a positive first impression on his maiden start for the Yorkshire side.

Elsewhere in League Two, Lewis Payne came off the bench as a late substitute as Newport County returned to league action with a 2-1 win over Swindon Town.

Outside of the EFL, Josh Jeffries continued his good form with National League South side Worthing as he kept his second clean sheet on his sixth consecutive start.

Jeffries was in between the sticks in a 3-0 triumph over Aveley that stretched the Rebels’ unbeaten run to five games.

In the same division, Jem Hewlett made his second consecutive start for Chippenham Town as they were beaten by Tonbridge Angels away from home.

In Europe, the second debutant of the week was Charly Alcaraz, as he made his first appearance for Juventus in the final minutes of a narrow defeat against Inter Milan in Serie A.

Alcaraz was introduced in stoppage time with little opportunity to turnaround the 1-0 scoreline as second-placed Juve suffered defeat against their title rivals above them.

In France, Duje Ćaleta-Car made his return from suspension to keep a clean sheet for Lyon, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win away against Marseille.

Romain Perraud also made a return, his first since suffering a recent injury, as he played the final 10 minutes of a goalless draw for Nice.

Finally, in Turkey, goalkeeper Mateusz Lis was back in the Göztepe side and kept a clean sheet in their 4-0 win over Altay, as they move up to second in the Turkish second division.
