Gill: There'll more than likely be changes again
Assistant Manager Matt Gill admitted there may be squad rotations again as Southampton manage a busy schedule when they host Watford in tomorrow's Emirates FA Cup fourth round replay.
Following victory over Rotherham that lifted Saints up to second in the SkyBet Championship, attentions return to cup football tomorrow evening.
Reflecting on the original tie at Vicarage Road, Gill said: "It was an interesting game, we made changes because we felt it was right to do that, and there'll more than likely be changes again tomorrow night from Saturday's game.
"It's really important that all the lads are up to speed and ready to contribute, it's a huge month for us coming up and beyond.
"We see the lads in training every day and try to keep the whole squad happy. The lads are in a good place and the more players we have in a good place the better, that will be a factor when we pick the team."
Saints made a handful of changes in the original tie.
The only guaranteed change from Saturday's league victory will be the absence of new signing David Brooks, who is cup-tied, as Gill shared a further update on Saints' sidelined players.
"Obviously Brooksy has come in but unfortunately can't play tomorrow," Gill said. "But there's real strength in depth. Sam [Edozie] being back with the squad was great on Saturday, and gives us real strength again.
"Kamaldeen [Sulemana] and Breezy [James Bree] are not ready for tomorrow but will be soon, Breezy hasn't been on the grass with us yet so will be a bit longer than Kamaldeen.
"The two new faces and lads coming back from injury has been great timing, the lads that are playing now know they need to continue to play well.
"Fresh faces coming in just freshens things up, competition is always great and the lads are really together. It's a high-quality problem to have, I think Russell would call it."
