Edozie set for Saints return at Rotherham
Russell Martin shared that Sam Edozie is set to return to the squad for this weekend's SkyBet Championship trip to Rotherham.
Saints return to league action with their unbeaten run still intact after last weekend's draw with Watford in the Emirates FA Cup, which extended the streak to 22 matches in all competitions.
With the January transfer window now closed, Martin knows the personnel he has available for the crucial second half of the campaign with one player in particular - Sam Edozie - set for a return to the side after injury.
"Sam Edozie will be back this weekend, which is fantastic news for us." Martin expressed, "Kamaldeen is not far away the weekend after, and Breezy [James Bree] will be the week after that."
"I think [January] has been really good, we've ended in a stronger place than where we started.
"Keeping everyone like Kyle [Walker-Peters], Stu [Armstrong], and Janny B was also really important, I haven't had one conversation about them wanting to go and we can feel better as a group now to keep doing what we want to do."
Reflecting on the changes to his squad that did occur before yesterday's transfer deadline, Martin offered further clarity on the two additions and two departures.
"Mason [Holgate] leaves with our best wishes, he didn't play here as much as we both would have liked, but he goes back to the Premier League with an opportunity to probably play more than he did here.
"Charly [Alcaraz] has also gone for six months with an amazing opportunity to play for a huge club with huge history. He wanted to play more and he goes with a move that I think works for everyone.
"Joe Rothwell was signed early, regardless of what happened with Charly, and we'll have Joe Aribo coming back at some point as well. I'm really happy with the business we've done."
Finally, Martin added his praise for the final incoming of the window, as Bournemouth winger David Brooks arrived on loan earlier in the week.
"Brooksy was our first choice, as was Joe Rothwell in his position, I watched him play for Bournemouth and Wales and he's overcome something huge in his life which says a lot about him as a character.
"When I spoke to him and he really wanted to come here I was really grateful, and I think he's a great signing, a specialist in his position, that will really help us for sure.
"With Brooksy, Kamaldeden, Ryan Fraser, and Sam Edozie and Sam Amo[-Ameyaw], we have some really brilliant options there right now."
