Joe Aribo and Kamaldeen Sulemana both started in AFCON qualifiers for Nigeria and Ghana respectively on Sunday, with both countries remaining top of their groups.

After a narrow 2-1 win over Sierra Leone in the reverse fixture a year ago, the Super Eagles looked to be cruising in Monrovia when Napoli’s talisman Victor Osimhen grabbed a brace inside 32 minutes, the second assisted by Aribo.

However, the hosts reduced the deficit before the break and then seemingly rescued a point when Augustus Kargbo levelled on 84 minutes.

In a final twist, Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho struck five minutes into additional time to confirm Nigeria's AFCON qualification with a game to spare.

Elsewhere, Sulemana played 62 minutes as the Black Stars were unable to find a way past Madagascar in Group E, with a goalless draw leaving Ghana top over Angola by a single point with one game left to play.
