Southampton Cup

Under-9s Community Tournament

East Lodge Spitfires were crowned Southampton Cup under-9s champions at Wide Lane after beating Pace Tigers 4-2 in a tense penalty shootout.

In normal time the final finished 2-2 with Pace equalising from a corner late on which resulted in penalties to determine the winner.

Pace won 3-2 on penalties in the semi-final but it was not meant to be as East Lodge Spitfires took home the trophy after a well fought, even match.

Despite the bleak weather, spirits were high throughout the day as teams from across the country put on an entertaining show for their managers, families and a familiar face – Sammy Saint.

The winner and runners up were presented with trophies at the end along with shiny medals for players for their fantastic efforts.

Teams included: Bridport Youth FC, Fawley Falcons Jets, Kennington, Pace Tigers, PG10, Champion Sports Group, Hythe & Dibden Avengers, Oakwood Spitfires, Poole Town FC, Totton and Eling Tigers, Greenfields Tigers, Mousehole AFC, Wimborne and Holt FC, Winchester Youth Black, East Lodge Spitfires, Jubilee 77, Pace Cougars, Sarisbury Sparks, Waltham Wolves Galaxy.
