Deportivo De La Caruna Under-14s vs Aldershot Town Under-14s

Deportivo de La Coruña Under-14s opened their Southampton Cup campaign with a 5-0 victory over fellow Academy side Aldershot Town.

A brace either side of half-time from No. 7, including a tantalising chip, proved fatal as the Spanish side’s teasing build up couldn’t be contained by Town.

The Hampshire club did provide a glimpse of their qualities with a beautiful goal midway through the first half, but it was ruled offside.

In the end, The Red and Blacks finished without a single shot on target and now accommodate bottom place in the Under-14s Academy Group C, whereas Deportivo sit top.

The team in blue started the brightest on a cloudy afternoon, 15 testing the keeper with a low shot just before 11 fired wide as their wingers injected danger.

As the half drew to its median it was the same two players causing utmost havoc, an energetic 11 getting inside Aldershot’s area to sting the hands of their No. 1.

But he soon had his goal on 17 minutes, an elaborate Deportivo move squared in by 15 which 11 couldn't miss.

A perfect Aldershot response was nearly solidified when 6 delightfully curled into the top corner from just inside the box, only for the linesman to flag up.

Morale seemed to sink upon that decision and Dépor pounced with moments remaining, 8 threading through to 15 who switched from provider to scorer, sending it low and left.

Half-time score:  2 - 0

Depor’s flair continued to be brandished post break, resulting in their third and No. 7’s double after he audaciously chipped home following a surging from substitute 18.

No. 6, determined from his earlier setback, looked the most determined to get The Shots a consolation, but he couldn’t make solid contact from 7s cross.

With the game fizzling out The Blue and Whites' performance done otherwise as No. 10 blasted home from 20-yards in the pick of the bunch, despite being narrowed in by three Aldershot players.

Another intricate Dépor move delivered another blow, 18 tapping in from close to make it 5-0 after the keeper had denied 11 his second with a strong hand.
