What is the role?

The Southampton Cup is a brand new eight-day international youth football tournament, which is being hosted in Southampton and the surrounding area, involving boys’ and girls’ teams from across the globe.

There are already some of the best European teams signed up including Chelsea, RSC Anderlecht, Dinamo Zagreb and Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña, as well as a number of professional academies from the UK and abroad.

The tournament will become a key fixture in the calendar for youth football clubs around the world, bringing some of the most talented young players to the region for a ‘festival of football’.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to play a key role in ensuring the tournament runs smoothly.

The role of the Team Liaison Co-ordinator will be accountable for managing the Team Liaison Officers (TLO) throughout the tournament. It will be your responsibility to ensure the TLO’s are in attendance and have all of the correct and relevant information they require for their team(s) each day. Your role will also involve supporting the TLO’s as required with daily activities or schedules.

As the Team Liaison Co-ordinator, you will also be responsible for ensuring that the TLO’s complete and submit a daily report at the end of their shift and ensure that you take responsibility for your own Health and Safety and that of the TLO’s.

Please note that you will need to be available from 2nd – 16th August in order to carry out this role. Specific hours of work will be arranged in due course.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Team Liaison Co-ordinator who has a strong background in customer service and has had experience of working with people from different backgrounds and nationalities. You will have experience of managing staff and experience of understanding the needs of a sporting team and how to support them during a tournament.

The competencies which are required include:

Experience

Essential:

• Experience of managing staff.

• Experience of working with people of different backgrounds and nationalities.

• Experience in customer service both face to face and on the phone.

• Experience and understanding of the needs of a sporting team.

Desirable:

• Experience of working on large football tournaments, ideally for teams from a variety of nationalities.

Qualifications (incl. certifications)

Essential:

• Must be able to travel in and around Southampton.

• GCSE’s grade A - C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Desirable:

• A current and recognised FA First Aid qualification.

• A current FA Safeguarding Children workshop certificate.

Skills

Essential:

• A current and recognised FA First Aid qualification.

• A current FA Safeguarding Children workshop certificate.

Desirable:

• Able to speak another language, preferably Spanish, French or German.
