Southampton Football Club can announce another significant pre-season friendly for its men’s first-team, who will play RB Leipzig during their training camp in Austria.

Saints will face the Bundesliga side on Saturday 16th July, at Lavanttal-Arena – the home of Austrian side Wolfsberger AC – with kick-off set for 2pm local time (1pm BST).

Leipzig finished fourth in the German top-flight last season, once again securing a Champions League place, while they won the DFB-Pokal Cup for the first time in their history, beating SC Freiburg on penalties. It was a particularly sweet triumph for the club, having lost in the final in two of the previous three seasons, to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Domenico Tedesco’s team also went close to reaching the Europa League final in the most recent campaign, making it as far as the semis, where they lost to Glasgow Rangers.

The game against Saints manager Ralph Hasenhüttl’s former club will come towards the start of Southampton’s summer camp, with the squad flying out to their Velden am Wörthersee base on Wednesday 13th July.

After Leipzig, they will then face SK Austria Klagenfurt on Monday 18th July (6pm BST/7pm CEST), before heading home two days later.

Full ticketing information for fans wishing to attend the game, as well as any broadcast details, will be announced on

soon.
