Elyounoussi aids Norway victory
Mohamed Elyounoussi aided Norway's 1-0 victory over Serbia as they commenced their Nations League campaign with victory on Thursday.
Erling Håland gave Norway the advantage after 26 minutes, with his left-footed shot from close range hitting the top left-hand corner.
Elyounoussi had a chance to extend the advantage with less than 15 minutes to play, a wonderful through ball from Martin Ødergaard falling perfectly before the Southampton striker’s left-footed shot went high over the crossbar.
The Norwegian played 88 minutes at Red Star Stadium before being switched for Julian Ryerson in a defensive move from Norway’s boss Ståle Solbakken.
Norway now face Sweden on Sunday, who secured a 2-0 victory over Group B4 opponents Slovenia.
