Ward-Prowse up for Premier League Player of the Season award
James Ward-Prowse has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Season for 2021/22, the club is delighted to announce.
The Saints captain has been a standout performer throughout the campaign, scoring nine goals and assisting a further five in 34 appearances.
Just one goal involvement short of equalling his best-ever return in a single season, the 27-year-old has also moved to within four of David Beckham’s record of 18 direct free-kicks goals in the Premier League, having netted stunning set-piece strikes against Crystal Palace, Wolves, Leeds and Brighton to take his tally to 14.
Ward-Prowse is one of eight nominees for the award, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah (both Liverpool), Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne (both Man City), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham).
The votes of the public will be combined with those of the 20 club captains and a panel of football experts to decide the winner.
Supporters have the chance to vote for Ward-Prowse until 6pm BST on Monday 16th May.
