Saints marking LGBT+ History Month
Southampton Football Club is proudly celebrating LGBT+ History Month throughout February – a chance to recognise and celebrate the impact the LGBTQ+ community has had on the world.
Earlier this season, Saints teamed up with Official Kit Supplier hummel to launch the ‘No place for homophobia in Southampton’ campaign, to promote inclusivity and combat prejudice of its LGBTQ+ supporters. Find out what else the club is doing to celebrate LGBT+ History Month…
What Saints are doing to celebrate LGBT+ History Month
The club continues to work closely with Rainbow Saints to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ people, with new initiatives due to be announced in the coming weeks.
Two members of the Rainbow Saints have been invited to join us for Saturday’s fixture against Everton and will be speaking to the St Mary’s crowd at half-time about LGBT+ History Month.
Saints Foundation are delivering workshops to the team in the community to raise awareness of the history of LGBTQ+ people and how to challenge discrimination – sessions that have been made possible through funds raised by auctioning match-worn hummel rainbow shirts.
In addition to these sessions, the Foundation are providing educational workshops to Year 7 students within their Community Champions schools to help promote awareness and allyship.
