Djenepo discovers World Cup play-off opponents
Moussa Djenepo’s Mali will face Tunisia for a place in this year’s World Cup.
The draw was made on Saturday afternoon for the final round of African qualifying, with five spots in the final tournament up for grabs.
The Eagles will play two legs against Tunisia, who were drawn in England’s group at the last World Cup in Russia back in 2018.
Both nations have progressed to the knockout stage of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, with Mali having run out 1-0 winners when the two sides met in the opening game.
Both legs of the World Cup play-off will take place over the next international break at the end of March, with Mali bidding to qualify for the first time in their history.
