Saints backing Southampton 2025
Southampton Football club is proudly supporting Southampton’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025 with the launch of a new campaign, At One Behind the Bid, highlighting the role that football plays in the cultural landscape of the city and its people.
Southampton has been named on the longlist for the prestigious title, which it is hoped would bring millions of pounds worth of investment to the city if the bid is successful.
At One Behind the Bid aims to raise awareness of the bid and encourage support from the Saints fanbase with images championing Southampton’s connection with football being displayed on matchdays at St Mary’s and across the club’s digital channels throughout January and February.
This follows the club showing its support for the city’s UK City of Culture bid, including first team captain James Ward-Prowse becoming an ambassador for Southampton 2025.
Gemma Nichols, Commercial and Marketing Director for Southampton 2025’s UK City of Culture bid, said: “We are delighted to have the support from Southampton Football Club for our bid to become UK City of Culture 2025. Football is a huge part of Southampton’s culture, therefore the backing of the Club is a key component to the bid.
“We hope that through this campaign the pride of the Saints fans will shine through showcasing the spirit of our city and it’s winning ambitions to become UK City of Culture 2025."
