Armstrong ruled out of Newcastle trip
Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed that Stuart Armstrong and Will Smallbone are Saints’ only absentees ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle on Saturday.
Smallbone has been on the side-lines for a number of months now as he recovers from an injury picked up in January, while Armstrong has a calf injury.
“Stuart Armstrong is still out,” said the boss. “He’s not in team training so far and Will Smallbone also long-term injury, the rest are with the team and available.”
With some different faces featuring in Saints’ 8-0 victory over Newport County on Wednesday, Hasenhüttl is open to more rotations this weekend.
“They have absolutely shown that they are a lot more than an alternative for me which is always good.
“We want to have everybody here, the season is long and we need every player. We don’t want to make the mistake from last year again and that’s why I don’t expect anybody to go.”
