Ché Adams spoke of plenty of positives for Saints following the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, including his growing partnership with Adam Armstrong.

It was the new double-A partnership that linked up in the build-up to the first goal of the afternoon on the half-hour mark, with only the dubious goal panel in their way after later claiming the strike as a Fred own goal.

United came out for the second half firing and soon got their reward; Mason Greenwood fed by Paul Pogba before sliding an effort under Alex McCarthy in minute 54.

But Saints weren’t dampened by the equaliser, Adams and Armstrong combining again as latter almost claimed all three points for the hosts.

“Obviously with Prowsey, Ori [Romeu] and the others it’s second nature for me,” said the Scotland international.

“With Adam [Armstrong] it’s great to link up with him and we can only get better as games go on. It’s only our second game together. We’ll keep doing it and we’ll keep pushing forwards.

“When they got their goal we didn’t stand off them and we kept the pressure on high. We had a couple of chances towards the end where we could’ve gone and won it but as I said it’s another positive and another point against a big team.

“That’s what we worked on from last week [the second half performance]. We gave up some easy goals and we all knew that.

“It was about staying on top and not switching off at times and I think we did that well today.”
