Ralph Hasenhüttl has suggested that Oriol Romeu may return to play his part in this weekend's final day action, as Southampton look to bring their 2020/21 season to a close in positive fashion at West Ham's London Stadium.

The midfielder has been missing since March with an ankle problem, but has since resumed full training and may yet be fit enough to feature in Saints' concluding fixture.

Meanwhile, Ché Adams has been ruled out as he recovers from a minor groin problem, with Hasenhüttl asserting caution over the forward ahead of this summer's European Championships, where Adams has been selected to represent Scotland.

“Yes, he [Oriol] was training today so only Will Smallbone is out and Ché Adams is out," the nagger said. "Ché cannot play at the weekend as he has a small groin injury, so he will also definitely be out. The rest are fit.”

On Adams, he added: “No, 5-10 days so his chance at the weekend is a small one but we won’t take the risk as we know he has the Euro coming up, which for him is a big tournament, and [the injury] it’s not a big issue for him.”
