Hasenhüttl: Bournemouth not to be underestimated

Bournemouth may have dropped a division since the last time Southampton faced them, but Ralph Hasenhüttl was clear ahead of Saturday's Emirates FA Cup quarter-final of the danger they will pose.

Cherries have undergone some changes since the end of last season, when they were relegated to the Championship, with Jason Tindall taking over from manager Eddie Howe, before Tindall's recent departure led to Jonathan Woodgate becoming head coach until the end of the season.

They remain in contention to make a swift return to the Premier League, though, sitting just outside the play-off places, having taken ten points from their past five matches.

That run included a very impressive 3-0 home win over automatic promotion contenders Swansea on Tuesday night, as they warmed up for this weekend's FA Cup clash with one of their best results of the season.

Bournemouth will also not be lacking in confidence when it comes to this competition, having won 2-0 at Burnley in the fifth round, following earlier victories over Oldham and Crawley.

"A team that is kicking Burnley out of the cup in an away game is a team you do not underestimate in any way," said Hasenhüttl, whose side were beaten 3-1 by Cherries at St Mary's early last season, before they turned the tables on them with a 2-0 win at Vitality Stadium late in the campaign.

"They know that we had last year a very tough game at Bournemouth, where we won with a fantastic game we played there, and I think exactly such a game we need again to win this battle and this is what we have to prepare for and what we have to focus on."

With no midweek game in the lead-up to this match, Hasenhüttl has been grateful for a rare opportunity to put some extra work in at the training ground, as his team looks to respond to last Sunday's 2-1 loss at home to Brighton.

"It was not a full week, as we played on Sunday and now on Saturday, but it was a good week and we could use the sessions on Wednesday and Thursday for working on a few things," he said.

"Like always, hopefully we can take the benefit from this hard work we did yesterday and today on the pitch."
