Tella shortlisted for PL2 player of the month
Southampton B team midfielder Nathan Tella is amongst those nominated for Premier League 2 player of the month following his performances in December.
The youngster, who has become a regular figure in Ralph Hasenhüttl’s first team squads, scored a remarkable four first half goals to see off Leicester City in his side’s final game of 2020.
On Tella’s performances, B team coach Dave Horseman said: “Nathan is a player and person we are proud of, who stays the same in terms of attitude no matter if he is with the first team or B team.
“The game versus Leicester showed the importance of the B team concept, as it allowed him to perform well using the same principles and philosophies of the first team.
“He plays with pace and energy with and against the ball and is direct when it comes to his thinking and actions."
The 21-year-old is joined on the December shortlist by Folarin Balogun (Arsenal), Brad Lyons (Blackburn), Harry Chapman (Blackburn), Faustino Anjorin (Chelsea), Lewis Bate (Chelsea) and Harvey White (Tottenham).
