Following up last week’s Man United victory with another positive result is exactly what Radhi Jaïdi’s Under-23s will be focussed on ahead of another long trip north.

This time, the opponents are Newcastle United, and the competition is the Premier League Cup, but the overall aims and ambitions remain consistent, as Jaïdi explains.

Saints enter their penultimate group tie in good shape, a point behind tomorrow night’s opponents, who lead Group H with two games remaining.

"They're a point ahead of us which makes the game even more important," Jaïdi explained.

"We're looking for consistency, to back up a few really good results recently.

"It'll be a tough game, but we're familiar with the way they play having played them a few times already this season.

"Ultimately, we want the three points. That's got to be the aim."
