Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that promising young defender Kayne Ramsay has this week put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old joined Saints from Chelsea just over a year ago, and has now extended his stay on the south coast until the summer of 2021.
Ramsay enjoyed an impressive maiden season in the club's Under-18s setup last term, netting a goal of the season contender against Tottenham back in February.
The right-back has already been included in Radhi Jaïdi's Under-23s squad this season, and is convinced that Southampton is the best place to progress his fledging career.
"I'm happy, and I feel pleased to have got myself in this position," he said. "Coming from Chelsea, I feel like I've fully settled now.
"I know what's expected of me now. The club have supported me on and off the pitch so I'm sure this is the right place for me.
"I've got to keep working hard now, and when I get given a chance to prove myself, I'll take it."
Academy Manager Matt Hale said: “Kayne has shown all the potential attributes for a career in the game, during the short time he's been with the club.
"He's worked hard and demonstrated a level of maturity befitting of a professional footballer, and rightly deserves his early contract offer.
"He regularly captains our Under-18s side, showing strong leadership skills, and I'm looking forward to watching him grow further."
