Southampton defender Cédric has been named in Portugal’s preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup finals.

The Saints right-back is part of the initial 35-man list sent to FIFA by head coach Fernando Santos, who is set to reduce that to the final 23 later this week.

Cédric is a key member of the Portugal team that won the European Championship two years ago, and will be confident of being part of the squad that flies to Russia next month.

Portugal have been drawn in Group B at the tournament, where they are up against Iran, Morocco and Spain.
