Southampton defender Matt Targett has joined Championship club Fulham on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old left-back today made the switch to Craven Cottage, linking up with Slaviša Jokanović’s side for the final months of the campaign.

With Ryan Bertrand and Sam McQueen also in the first-team squad, the deal will allow Targett, who has made two appearances for Southampton this season, to gain additional playing time.

Fulham are currently seventh in the Championship table, one point shy of the play-off spots and eight behind the automatic positions, ahead of their final 18 games of the season.

The club wishes Matt good luck during his loan spell, and will remain in regular contact with him throughout.
