Making the switch from London's Arsenal academy to the south coast has been relatively seamless for forward Nathan Tella, after a string of positive performances for Southampton's Under-23s.
A hat-trick in the Senior Cup was followed by a goal and an assist against Premier League 2 opponents Fulham earlier in the week, and the teenager is relishing the challenge of competing in the club's more advanced age groups.
"I feel like I've adjusted to 23s well," Tella began. "Made an impression when I joined and the boys have really helped me adapt. I'm really enjoying it.
"Obviously it is nice to get a goal and to help the team in as many ways as I can. In terms of the team, it was disappointing that we couldn't get the result we wanted. We'll look forward to putting that right on Sunday.
"After the injury I picked up, I'm back scoring goals now which is good for confidence. I feel like I'm beginning to reach full fitness again which is helpful."
Saints face a tough test against a Middlesborough outfit who have only lost one league game over a largely successful campaign and are unbeaten in their previous three outings.
Tella added: "Middlesborough are obviously a good side, we'll have to be at our best. The table shows they're the best team in the league at the moment. It is exciting, they're clearly playing good football.
"It'll bring out the best in our team and test us to see how good we can be."
