Virgil van Dijk says Southampton must stay positive despite a frustrating run of results that culminated in a 1-0 home defeat to Burnley before the international break.
Despite dominating for large spells, Saints failed to make their chances count and were undone by a late Sam Vokes header at St Mary’s.
But van Dijk says the team must stay together for what is an important juncture of the season coming up.
“I don’t think they got almost any chance and it is a bit frustrating for us that the one chance is a goal, so that was disappointing,” van Dijk reflected.
“Every game is important and it is going to be even more important now that we get some points.
“We know that we can play very well against everyone and we just need to keep going, keep positive, work hard every week and for now, we just want to recharge.
“Obviously, some players work hard with their countries and then we need to be ready for Liverpool.”
