Saints are back in Premier League action at St Mary's this weekend, as the club welcomes West Brom to the south coast, and Dušan Tadić is keen to better the point gained against Newcastle last time out.
Twice coming from behind by virtue of Manolo Gabbiadini, Saints showed character to avoid defeat to the Magpies, but Tadić is intent on ensuring the team now starts to accumulate more points at home.
Reflecting on the Newcastle deadlock, Tadić said: "I think it is a disappointment, because we only take a point, but also we came back from losing the game. This is positive.
"We need to win these kinds of matches, we know it isn't easy but we can play better. It is very important [to win on Saturday], because winning games gives you extra confidence."
While recognising the demand for improvement, the Serbia international also praised the influence of a St Mary's capacity crowd, and the need to assuage frustrations after a string of winless results.
"We like to play in front of the home crowd, although we haven't taken as many points as we'd like at home this season," Tadić continued.
"But we'll try to change that and try to make our fans happy.
"It is too early to think about the league table, every club is close to each other. But as the season goes on there is more emphasis on the table and then we'll look at where we stand and where we want to be."
