Southampton’s Jonathan Afolabi netted an impressive brace for as Ireland U19 thrashed Cyprus 5-0 in Waterford.
With fellow Saints youngster Thomas O’Connor pulling the strings in midfield, Afolabi caught the eye for the boys in green, striking clinically either side of half time.
His first was arguably the goal of the night, the frontman controlling sharply in the box before hammering a left-footed half-volley into the net on the turn.
Jonathan added his second and the team’s fifth late on with a fine solo effort after driving inside from the left wing.
Ireland now sit second in their UEFA European U-19 Championship qualifying group, two points behind Serbia who they meet on Monday night.
