Steven Davis scored as Northern Ireland kept their World Cup dreams very much alive, with a 3-0 victory in San Marino.

Davis converted a 77th-minute penalty, shortly after a quick-fire double from Josh Magennis had finally put Michael O'Neill's side in control, in Serravalle.

A fourth consecutive qualifying win means the Irish are firmly in control of second place in Group C.

Germany are five points clear of them at the top, with three games left, but Northern Ireland now have a seven-point gap to Czech Republic below them, ahead of the meeting between the sides on Monday, in Belfast.

A second-placed finish would likely ensure the Irish of a play-off berth and a chance to follow up their European Championship appearance last summer with a first trip to the World Cup finals since 1986.
