Having now settled into life on the south coast, summer signing Jan Bednarek cannot wait for the Premier League season to get under way.
Saints kick-start their 2017/18 campaign against Swansea City at St Mary’s on Saturday, and the Polish defender is looking forward to starting a fresh season with his new team mates.
“We are all looking forward to it,” started Bednarek.
“I think everyone is ready to handle it and play their best. It’s very nice that we can play our first game at home because we will be able to feel the support of our fans.
“I feel very nice in this team. All of my team mates are very friendly and everyone in the club has been very good to me. I can’t wait for the first game.”
Bednarek arrived on a five-year deal from Polish side Lech Poznań on July 1st - just a week after Mauricio Pellegrino was appointed Sants’ new first team manager.
And having now spent a month working under the Argentine, Bednarek is confident he is the man to take the club forward.
“As a team we have already improved with him,” he continued.
“He is a very good guy; a very good person and coach. I think we can continue to improve and become a better team with him.
“That’s the point: to keep working, to listen to what he has to say to us and to be a better team and better players.”
