Maya Yoshida says he and the rest of the players have been relishing the intense training sessions put on by new manager Mauricio Pellegrino in pre-season.
The Saints squad is currently on its second training camp of the summer, with this week’s trip to France following the visit to Austria earlier in the month.
Yoshida and his teammates have again been working extensively, with a number of double and high-intensity sessions.
The Japan international defender explained that, while it has been tough, the players are feeling the benefits.
"It’s a really good place to be, and training is really hard,” he said of the trip to Évian-les-Bains.
"We are really enjoying every moment with the new manager. He has a good philosophy and the organisation is really good.
"Training is really hard, but that’s good for us to improve ourselves. We try new things a lot and I’m sure it’s going to be really good for us and we're really looking forward to the new season.
"Especially with the new manager, we have to understand how he wants us to play together."
