Saints Foundation recently took 14 players to take part in SK Rapid Vienna's International SNT Disability Cup.
Making up two teams to participate in the Euro and Champions Cups, this was a unique opportunity for players selected from the Foundation’s local Pan Disability League to test their skills abroad.
Both teams finished third in their respective groups that consisted of teams including AIK Stockholm, Bayer Leverkusen and eventual Champions Cup winners Austria Vienna.
In their 5th/6th placed play-off, the Euro squad narrowly lost out on penalties to Austrian side St. Pölton. In the other 5th/6th play-off, however, the Champions Cup team fought out a similarly competitive game against Ajax, coming from behind twice to eventually beat them on penalties 3-2.
Special mention also goes to Connor Steel, who picked up the ‘Goalkeeper of the Tournament’ award in the Euro Cup.
While the Foundation were delighted to be bringing home some silverware, more importantly they brought home an incredibly happy squad of players who did the club proud.
