Gardos watches on in Poland defeat

By SFC Media Sat 10 Jun International

Florin Gardos watched on from the substitutes bench as Romania fell to a 3-1 defeat to Poland in their World Cup qualifier in Warsaw.

The visitors were behind on 29 minutes when Robert Lewandowski was fouled by Cristian Sapunaru in the box, and the forward dusted himself down to convert from the spot.

Lewandowski added a second when he headed home Piotr Zielinski’s cross, before completing his hat-trick with another spot-kick after Zielinski was fouled by Alin Tosca.

Bogdan Stancu pulled one back in the 77th minute, but it was not enough to spark a comeback for Romania, who now sit fourth in the Group E standings.
