Jack Stephens believes England Under-21s are in a great place heading into the European Championship this summer.
The Southampton defender got the nod to join the final squad alongside four other Saints players, and is hopeful the Young Lions can build on last year’s Toulon Tournament success.
“I think it’s really exciting,” he started.
“We’ve had a good two years, and winning in Toulon last year has really given us confidence to go on and do something special this summer. We can definitely take a lot from last year.
“It’s very much the same group of lads and that’s really important, to stay together and hopefully show this summer that we’re capable of winning another one.”
Nathan Redmond, Matt Targett and James Ward-Prowse were also named in Aidy Bothroyd’s final 23-man squad for the tournament.
And Stephens is looking forward to playing alongside so many fellow Saints players in Poland.
“It just makes it that extra bit special that there’s so many of us from Southampton and we’re all doing it together,” he continued.
“It’s a great honour to be alongside so many lads from Southampton, and it would be nice to go and win something with them.”
