Claude Puel offered his praise to Oriol Romeu and Maya Yoshida after they were honoured at the club's Player Awards ceremony.
Romeu scooped both the Players' and Fans' Player of the Season prizes this week, while Yoshida received the President's Choice Award from Saints legend Terry Paine.
Puel was delighted for both men, praising their efforts and their improvement this term, as he spoke ahead of Sunday's trip to Liverpool.
On Romeu, Puel said: "I think it's a good reward for him. I think he deserves this, because he has had a fantastic season with consistency and quality. He is good with the ball and, of course, at recovering the ball. I think he's a very good player and it has been a great season for him."
Speaking about Yoshida, Puel added: "It's the same, like Oriol - at the beginning of the season Maya was not a starting player, but he has won his place with great games, European games, and he has improved a lot this season.
"He is a very good centre-back now with personality. It's the same with Oriol – he took confidence and he is an important player for the team."
