Claude Puel has urged his players to put their past two results behind them by beating Hull City on Saturday.
Saints have suffered defeat against Manchester City and Chelsea in their previous two Premier League outings, and Puel is now keen to take all three points against the Tigers.
“It’s an important game for us,” he started.
“After two losses it’s important to move forward now and take points on Saturday in front of our own fans.
“We have to improve in the right areas and find a good balance of play, but also a good clinical edge in both penalty areas.”
Hull City arrive at St Mary’s just one place above the Premier League drop zone and with four games still to play.
Though Puel is not underestimating the challenge his side will face.
“Hull City are a good team with good technical players,” he continued.
“They can play good football and won their last game with only ten players, so they have a good spirit.
“It will be a difficult game. Marco Silva has worked very well there and they have progressed, but my focus is on our team and our performance.”
