Ryan Seager is well aware of the importance of Southampton Under-23s’ game against Derby County on Friday night.
Saints host the Rams in their penultimate game of the season knowing that a victory would secure their Premier League 2 status.
“All the boys know it’s a big game - we need to win it,” started the striker.
“Derby are obviously just below us and if they win they will be level on points with us, but if we win we will stay up so it is a big game.
“The last two results mean there is more on this game, but we know that and I think we will deal with the pressure well.”
Seager missed the majority of the season through long-term injury, before returning in January from an 11-month absence.
And the 21-year-old has been delighted with his return to the action.
“It’s been great,” continued Seager.
“It was a long road to recovery for me and I feel like I am finally getting my full fitness back now.
“I don’t think it is completely there yet, but hopefully these last few games will really help give me that.”
