Claude Puel expects a physical test from West Bromwich Albion tomorrow, but is optimistic his team will be able to recover in time from the exertions of Wednesday night to deal with it.
Saints turned in an all-action display in their 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace in midweek, and now head to the Hawthorns as they look to make it seven points from a possible nine.
A win would help reel their opponents in, with the Baggies currently one place above them in the table, in eighth, but seven points ahead.
"We know West Bromwich are strong, like Watford were, like this last game against Crystal Palace," said Puel.
"They are a physical team, with direct play, a good structure and good organisation.
"It is difficult to find a solution against them. I hope we can recover after Wednesday's game.
"West Bromwich will have four days between these two games and for us it's just a two days and a half. For us, the recovery is difficult, but with a win it's easier to recover."
