Steven Davis says Southampton must be at their best to take maximum points against in-form Crystal Palace at St Mary’s.

Saints are looking to improve on a frustrating 0-0 draw against AFC Bournemouth at the weekend, while the visitors have won four games in a row after their shock success at Chelsea.

Davis said: “You’re probably starting to see a truer reflection of the quality they’ve got with their results more recently.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game and they had a bit of a shock result at the weekend so they’ll be coming to St Mary’s full of confidence.

“We have to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we get our performance right first and foremost. If we do that then we’ll give ourselves a good opportunity to get three points.

“We want to try and build some momentum and we spoke about it before the game on Saturday that it’s a good opportunity this week to put together results and put some points on the board.

“We’d have liked to have started the week off with a win which wasn’t the case but we’ve got another opportunity now against Palace.”
