Long features in Iceland defeat

Shane Long came off the bench for Republic of Ireland during their 1-0 defeat to Iceland at the Aviva Stadium.

The forward replaced West Bromwich Albion’s James McClean on 72 minutes in search of a reply to Hordur Magnusson’s first international goal in the first-half.

The result came after a goalless draw with Wales in World Cup qualifying in Dublin on Friday, a result which was enough to move Ireland level on points with Serbia at the top of Group D.
