Cédric rested in Sweden defeat

Southampton defender Cédric was an unused substitute in Portugal’s 3-2 friendly defeat to Sweden.

Cédric, who played the full 90 minutes in the World Cup qualifying win over Hungary on Saturday, was rested in favour of Valencia full-back João Cancelo at Estádio dos Barreiros.

Cristiano Ronaldo put the hosts ahead after 18 minutes when he converted Gelson Martin’s cross, before Andreas Granqvist scored an own goal to extend their advantage.

Viktor Claesson made it 2-1 when he latched on to Christoffer Nyman’s through ball to finish well from a tight angle.

On 76, Claesson doubled his and Sweden's tally for the evening to level proceedings and deep into stoppage time Cancelo turned through his own net to give the visitors a win.
