Dušan Tadić is back in the Serbia squad this week – with a little help from Southampton’s Official Fitness Device Partner Garmin.
The playmaker suffered a broken nose during the last round of internationals and was ruled out of action for Saints until he returned in mid-December.
To aid his recovery, Tadić was handed a Garmin Vivosmart HR unit, which allowed Saints’ medical and sports science departments to keep a track of his heart rate when he was exercising away from Staplewood.
The Serbian will now be hoping to help his national side take another step towards the 2018 World Cup when they visit Georgia fir a qualifier tomorrow.
Speaking about the importance of the device, Head of Sports Science Alek Gross said: “We regularly monitor players’ heart rate and physical data. It is important that players have the optimal level of training.
“This device enables us to monitor heart rate at the training ground and also away from the training ground if players are training at another venue, so that we can keep track of their overall response to the training load."
