Manolo Gabbiadini expressed his gratitude for the welcome he has received from Southampton fans, after winning the Under Armour Player of the Month for February.
Gabbiadini’s scintillating start, which saw him net five times in his first three Saints games, means he beat James Ward-Prowse, Maya Yoshida and Ryan Bertrand to the award.
“I’m very pleased. It was important for me to make a good start and when it comes from the fans it makes the award even more important,” reflected Gabbiadini.
“I’m pleased I’m scoring goals at the moment because the fans are part of football so they’re very important to me and when the harder times come, we will get through them together.”
And when asked whether he had a particular highlight from the month, which included a brace in the EFL Cup final at Wembley, the Italian international forward could not narrow it down.
He added: It’s impossible to choose one moment or one game. I’ve enjoyed every moment.”
