Craig David has revealed his pride at seeing Southampton reach the EFL Cup final against Manchester United.
The Southampton supporter and music artist grew up watching his hometown heroes and will be in attendance at Wembley on Sunday.
Speaking at the launch of his homecoming gig, he said: “I’m excited. I grew up going to The Dell, leaning over with my programme trying to get Matt Le Tissier’s autograph, Alan Shearer or Tim Flowers.
“Once you’ve gone through that experience, Southampton is in your heart and seeing us back at Wembley in a big game against Manchester United. I’ve got a feeling we’ll bring it out.”
“Southampton has been through so much as a team over the years. Dropping all the way down to League One and finding our way back, managers changing and losing players.
“I’d be so proud for us to win. It’s great for the city and the supporters. I’ve got my mom season tickets and she’s in awe every time Saturday comes.
“It’s the heart of this place for me. I’m so happy they’re back in the mix and win or lose, to get this far has been incredible."
