Southampton Under-18s suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Fulham in their latest Under-18 Premier League encounter.

Three second-half strikes in nine minutes sunk Saints at Motspur Park, as a Michael Elstone double and single strike from substitute Jayden Harris did the damage.

The first half of the encounter was one of few chances, though it was Craig Fleming’s men that looked closest to breaking the deadlock.

Jonathan Afolabi slipped Will Smallbone into the penalty area on the half-hour mark for the chance of the half, but the midfielder dragged his effort wide of the far post.

Afolabi and Smallbone then combined after the restart to send Siph Mdlalose scampering free into the penalty area, but he was unable to lift his shot over Taye Ashby-Hammond in the Fulham goal.

Afolabi then had another chance before the hosts took the lead, as Javen Siu flew down the left flank and cut back for the Irish striker, but he was unable to convert.

Elstone then broke the deadlock on 70 minutes as he confidently tucked under Kingsley Latham after a swift passing move through the middle of the park.

Harris was then introduced in favour of Atli Adrason and immediately made an impact, as his strike from the left deflected in off Aaron O’Driscoll just two minutes later to double Fulham’s advantage.

The afternoon’s scoring was then complete in the 79th minute as Elstone doubled his personal tally. Latham did well to get down low and deny Harris’ original strike, but Elstone pounced on the rebound and tucked in from close range to make it 3-0.
