Dušan Tadić praised a fine team performance after Southampton recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Tadić provided an assist for Manolo Gabbiadini as the Italian’s double was added to by a Jason Denayer own goal and Shane Long.
“It was a very good team performance. I think we didn’t start so well and in the first ten minutes we were looking a little bit nervous,” Tadić reflected.
“We need to deal with pressure because it’s normal in an away game and even if they put pressure on you, you need to be calm on the ball to give solutions to your teammates.
“After that when we start to play and play three or four passes, we created problems for them immediately and this is how we should play.
“To defend together, to attack together and then we will have a lot of joy and our fans will be happy.”
Gabbiadini’s second strike came at a crucial juncture in the game just before half-time, and Tadić was delighted with the fine team move that lead to it.
He added: “One player doesn’t make a team and everyone needs to play good and show some qualities.
“It was very important but also every goal is a team goal and we need that more. To move for each other, to open space for other like that.”
