Claude Puel says he has been impressed by Manolo Gabbiadini, following his first full week with the club.
The Italian striker joined Southampton on transfer deadline day, signing from Napoli, before scoring on his debut, against West Ham, last Saturday.
He has since embarked on his first full week of training with the club, and Puel has been pleased with what he has seen, as he prepares his team for tomorrow’s trip to Sunderland.
"I think step by step he learns different possibilities with the tactics, to defend together, and also in attack he gives good solutions in the play, between the lines,” said the Saints boss.
“He is always available, and also he gives solutions behind the line, with good runs.
“He's a good technical player, and it's important to play high up on the pitch and to have many solutions.
“We saw this in the first game. I think he lost just six balls of 33 that went to him during this game, and for a striker that is very good, because there is always little space, with little time to turn and play, and this shows he is a good technical player and interesting for the future.”
